Crypto Converter verstehen

Cryptocurrency prices move 24×7×365 - there's no closing bell, no market holiday, and at any given second a Bitcoin's INR price can be different on Binance, CoinDCX, WazirX and CoinGecko. The calculator uses CoinGecko's aggregated price feed, which averages quotes across the largest global and Indian exchanges to give you a reasonable mid-market reference. The number you see here is the benchmark - what you'd actually pay or receive on an Indian exchange will differ by the exchange's spread and any deposit/withdrawal fees.

Crypto-to-INR conversion is also one of the most heavily-taxed financial transactions in India. Profits on virtual digital assets are taxed at a flat 30% (no slab benefit), with 1% TDS deducted on every sell transaction. There's no set-off of crypto losses against other income or even other crypto gains in subsequent years. Use this calculator alongside the income tax calculator on this site to model the post-tax outcome of any crypto investment plan.

Die Formel

So funktioniert Crypto Converter

The calculator queries CoinGecko's public API for the latest cross-exchange average price between the chosen crypto and fiat. CoinGecko aggregates prices from 100+ exchanges and weights them by liquidity, so the resulting number is closer to a true mid-market rate than any single-exchange ticker.

Formula

Converted = Crypto Amount × Live Price (per coin) in target fiat

  • Crypto AmountQuantity of the cryptocurrency
  • Live PriceAggregated mid-market price from CoinGecko

Wie Crypto Converter zum Ergebnis kommt

Crypto prices are highly volatile - a 5% move within a day is normal for major coins like BTC and ETH; smaller-cap coins can swing 10-20% in hours. The price you see here can change while you're reading this paragraph. If you're using the calculator for a specific transaction, refresh just before placing the trade.

Indian exchanges (CoinDCX, WazirX, Mudrex) typically quote BTC/INR at a 1-3% premium to the international USD price (after currency conversion) due to limited INR-USD on-ramp liquidity. Don't be surprised if the exchange-specific INR price differs from this calculator by 1-2% - that's the local 'India premium'.

Stablecoins (USDT, USDC, DAI) are pegged to USD but trade at slight premiums or discounts depending on demand. Their prices in INR can differ from straight USD-INR conversion by 0.5-3% - useful information when arbitraging or moving funds between exchanges.

BTC to INR conversion

If 1 BTC trades at $65,000 globally and USD-INR is ₹83.50, mid-market BTC-INR ≈ ₹54,27,500. On CoinDCX or WazirX you might pay ₹54,80,000 (a 1% India premium) plus the exchange's 0.4% trading fee. Tax on profit when sold: 30% on gain + 1% TDS on the sell amount.

Trading 0.5 ETH for INR

If ETH = $3,500 and USD-INR = ₹83.50, 0.5 ETH ≈ ₹1,46,125. Add 1.5% Indian premium = ₹1,48,317 on the exchange ticker. Trading fee 0.4% = ₹593 charge. Net received before TDS: ₹1,47,724. After 1% TDS = ₹1,46,247. Tax on profit (vs cost basis) at 30% applies separately.

Anwendungsfälle

Wann Crypto Converter nutzen

  • Crypto investors checking the current INR value of their holdings before deciding to take profits or rebalance.
  • Traders comparing the price on CoinDCX or WazirX with the international mid-market to detect unusual premiums or discounts.
  • NFT or DeFi participants converting wallet balances in ETH, BNB or SOL into INR for portfolio tracking.
  • International remittance through stablecoins - converting INR to USDT, transferring to a wallet abroad, and then to local currency. The calculator helps validate each leg's rate.
Vorsicht

Häufige Fehler und Stolperfallen

  • Using mid-market price as if you'd actually get it. Indian exchanges trade at a premium, plus they charge 0.1-0.5% trading fees, plus 1% TDS - actual realised price is 2-3% off mid-market.
  • Forgetting the 30% tax. Crypto gains have no slab benefit and no LTCG distinction - every profit is taxed at 30% plus cess.
  • Not tracking 1% TDS on each sale. The TDS is deducted at source by the exchange and reflected in your 26AS - but you must reconcile it during ITR filing.
  • Comparing only one exchange's price. BTC-INR can differ by ₹50,000-1 lakh between exchanges due to liquidity differences.
  • Ignoring deposit/withdrawal fees. Withdrawing INR from a crypto exchange to your bank usually carries a flat ₹10-100 fee per transaction.
Profi-Tipps

Mehr aus diesem Tool herausholen

  • Always check the price across 2-3 Indian exchanges before placing a large trade - the spread can be significant.
  • Maintain detailed records of every buy and sell with date, amount and counter-party. Crypto tax computation is unforgiving and the burden of proof is on the taxpayer.
  • Use stablecoin conversion (USDT/USDC) for moving funds between platforms - fiat withdrawal is slow and expensive in India.
  • Pair this calculator with the income tax calculator on this site to estimate your net-of-tax realised gain on any crypto position.
FAQ

Fragen zu Crypto Converter

What price does the crypto converter use?

An aggregated mid-market price from CoinGecko, which weights quotes across 100+ exchanges by liquidity. It's the closest single number to a 'fair' price across the global crypto market.

Why does my Indian exchange show a different price?

Indian exchanges typically trade at a 1-3% premium over international mid-market due to limited INR-USD on-ramp liquidity. Plus exchange-specific spread and trading fees.

How is crypto taxed in India?

Profits on Virtual Digital Assets are taxed at a flat 30% with no slab benefit, no deductions, no LTCG distinction. 1% TDS applies on every sell transaction. Losses cannot be set off against other income or carried forward beyond a few specific scenarios.

Are these rates accurate for trading?

They're accurate as a benchmark. The actual rate you'll get on an Indian exchange will be 1-3% higher (for buys) or lower (for sells) due to local premium and exchange spreads.

How often do crypto prices update?

CoinGecko updates major-coin prices every 30-60 seconds; smaller-cap coins update every few minutes. The calculator fetches the latest available quote on each conversion.

What about stablecoins?

Stablecoins (USDT, USDC, DAI) are designed to track USD, but trade at small premiums or discounts depending on demand. The calculator shows their actual market price, not the theoretical $1 peg.

Convert with confidence

Conversion math is exact for unit families that share a base - every length unit can be expressed in metres, every weight in kilograms, every temperature in kelvin. The only real decisions are precision (how many decimals to display) and rounding (banker's rounding vs round-half-up). This converter exposes both. For currencies and crypto we pull live rates because they change every minute; for everything else the math works offline.

Indian land units (gaj, ground, bigha, acre, hectare) are wired into the area converter alongside global ones - useful for property listings and government records. The MB-to-GB converter handles the decimal-vs-binary distinction (1 GB = 1,000 MB in storage marketing, but operating systems display 1 GiB = 1,024 MiB) so you stop wondering why your '2 TB drive' shows up as 1.81 TB in Windows.
