Classic FLAMES: 'Rahul' and 'Priya'
Common letters: R, A. After cancellation: 'hul' and 'piya' = 7 letters. Cycle F-L-A-M-E-S 7 times → F (Friend). Fun result. Doesn't predict real relationships of course.
Just for fun: a deterministic love-compatibility calculator using the classic FLAMES algorithm. Same two names always give the same percentage - useful for harmless party games and Whatsapp shares.
For entertainment only - same names always give the same result.

A great match on paper!

Love calculator and FLAMES are pure fun - a nostalgic party game most Indian school kids have played at some point. FLAMES (Friend, Love, Affection, Marriage, Enemy, Sister) is a paper-and-pencil game where you write two names, cross out matching letters, count the leftover letters, and cycle through F-L-A-M-E-S to pick a relationship outcome. This calculator automates that and adds a love-percentage score so you can share the result with friends on WhatsApp, Instagram or social media. Same names always give the same result - it's deterministic, not random - which is why it works as a 'discovery' game rather than a fortune-teller.
Let's be clear: this is entertainment, not science. Real relationship compatibility comes from communication, shared values, mutual respect, financial alignment, family compatibility (particularly important in Indian context), and conscious effort over time - not from letter overlap in names. Use this tool for what it is: a harmless icebreaker at parties, a nostalgic throwback to school days, or a fun share on social media. Names are processed entirely in your browser; nothing is uploaded or stored. Safe for sharing across age groups.

Read the love percentage and FLAMES result.
We hash both names to a deterministic seed, run a simple character-overlap formula, and use the FLAMES algorithm (Friend / Love / Affection / Marriage / Enemy / Sister) to pick a category.
Common letters scaled to 0-100% via simple hash. FLAMES uses character cancellation between names.
Love percentage: a deterministic pseudo-random calculation based on name characters. Letters in common between the two names contribute to the score, with a hash function ensuring stable, reproducible results. Same name pair always gives the same percentage - that's by design so you can recreate the result and share it.
FLAMES algorithm: write both names. Strike out letters that appear in both (one strike each pair). Count remaining letters across both names. Use that count to cycle through F-L-A-M-E-S, eliminating one letter at a time until only one remains. The remaining letter is the predicted relationship: F=Friend, L=Love, A=Affection, M=Marriage, E=Enemy, S=Sister/Sibling.
Example: 'RAM' and 'SITA'. Common letters: A (1 each). Strike out - leaves 'RM' and 'SIT'. Total remaining = 5 letters. Cycle F-L-A-M-E-S, 5 times: F(1)-L(2)-A(3)-M(4)-E(5). E (Enemy) remains. Or another counting method: start counting after the last eliminated letter. Different traditions give slightly different results - there's no canonical version. This calculator picks one consistent rule.

All letters cancel. 0 remaining. By convention, this special case usually defaults to L (Love) or M (Marriage). Or 100% love percentage. Different versions handle it differently.
Maximum letters remaining (5). FLAMES cycle ends on... varies. Most variants give E (Enemy) - though the game is just nostalgic fun, not character analysis.
Absolutely not. It's a fun party tool. Real compatibility comes from communication, shared values and effort - not name letters.
Deterministic algorithm - the result depends only on the two names, so you can show friends and they'll see the same %.
An old paper game where you cancel matching letters in two names, count remaining letters, and cycle through F-L-A-M-E-S. The letter you land on names your relationship.
Names are processed entirely in your browser - never sent to a server.
Date math, password generation, QR codes, IP subnets, base64 encoding, dew point, dice rolls, age calculations - none of these are 'big' problems individually, but they are the small frictions that interrupt your day. This tool runs entirely in your browser, has no popup, no chat widget and no tracking inside the calculation, so you can finish the task and move on.
Many tools in the Daily Utilities category complement each other - date difference + day counter + day-of-the-week, or password generator + QR code + base64 encoder. The related-tool grid links them together so you can move between adjacent problems in a click.
The Love Calculator is part of the Daily Utilities suite on Online Calculator Tools, alongside 6 related calculators. All tools share the same UI patterns, the same privacy-first rendering (nothing is sent to a server), and the same commitment to showing the formula and assumptions behind every result.
