Temperature Converter - Kalkulator online gratis

Convert temperatures between Celsius, Fahrenheit, Kelvin and Rankine. Unlike length or weight, temperature is not a simple multiplication - each scale has its own zero point - so this tool uses the exact thermodynamic formulas. Useful for cooking, weather, science labs and engineering problems.

Memahami Temperature Converter

Temperature conversion is different from most unit conversions because temperature scales do not share the same zero point. Celsius is used in India for weather, school science, refrigerators, AC settings and cooking thermometers. Fahrenheit appears in US recipes, medical discussions, weather reports and appliances. Kelvin is the scientific absolute scale used in physics, chemistry and engineering. Rankine is rare but appears in some US thermodynamics contexts. A simple multiplier is not enough because converting temperature requires both scaling and shifting.

This converter supports Celsius, Fahrenheit, Kelvin and Rankine using exact formulas. It is useful for Indian students converting physics constants, cooks following US oven temperatures, parents reading a thermometer in Fahrenheit, engineers working with absolute temperature, and travellers reading international weather forecasts. The result is calculated instantly in the browser and common reference points are kept visible: water freezes at 0°C / 32°F / 273.15 K, boils at 100°C / 212°F / 373.15 K, and normal body temperature is about 37°C / 98.6°F.

Cara pakai

Memakai Temperature Converter dalam 6 langkah

  1. Pick the source scale (e.g. Celsius).

  2. Enter the temperature value (negative numbers allowed).

  3. Pick the target scale (e.g. Fahrenheit).

  4. Read the converted value instantly.

  5. Tap the swap button to reverse the direction.

  6. Common reference points like 0°C, 100°C and body temperature are listed below.

Cara kerja Temperature Converter

Temperature scales differ in two ways: the size of one degree, and where they put zero. Celsius defines 0 as the freezing point of water; Fahrenheit puts 0 at the freezing point of a brine solution. Kelvin uses the same degree size as Celsius but starts at absolute zero (−273.15 °C). Internally we convert every value to Kelvin first, then from Kelvin to the target scale - this way every formula uses the same code path and stays exact.

Formula

K = (input − offset) × scale ; result = (K × invScale) + invOffset

  • °C → KK = °C + 273.15
  • °F → KK = (°F − 32) × 5/9 + 273.15
  • °R → KK = °R × 5/9
  • K → °C°C = K − 273.15
  • K → °F°F = (K − 273.15) × 9/5 + 32
Matematikanya

Bagaimana Temperature Converter mendapatkan hasilnya

Celsius to Fahrenheit uses °F = (°C × 9/5) + 32. Fahrenheit to Celsius uses °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9. The plus/minus 32 exists because the two scales have different zero points. This is why 0°C is 32°F, but a temperature change of 1°C equals a change of 1.8°F.

Kelvin is the SI thermodynamic temperature scale. K = °C + 273.15 and °C = K − 273.15. Kelvin has no degree symbol. Absolute zero is 0 K, equal to −273.15°C, where classical molecular thermal motion is at its minimum. Many physics formulas such as ideal gas law PV = nRT require Kelvin, not Celsius.

Rankine is related to Fahrenheit the way Kelvin is related to Celsius: it starts at absolute zero but uses Fahrenheit-sized degrees. °R = °F + 459.67 and K = °R × 5/9. Rankine is uncommon in India, but it may appear in aerospace, thermodynamics textbooks and US engineering references.

Contoh

Contoh soal

Indian summer weather: 42°C to Fahrenheit

°F = 42 × 9/5 + 32 = 107.6°F. This explains why a Delhi heatwave temperature sounds extremely high in Fahrenheit reports.

US oven recipe: 350°F to Celsius

°C = (350 − 32) × 5/9 = 176.67°C. Indian home ovens are usually set around 175°C or 180°C for this recipe setting.

Science lab: 25°C room temperature to Kelvin

K = 25 + 273.15 = 298.15 K. Chemistry and physics formulas often require this Kelvin value rather than 25°C.

Perhatikan

Kesalahan dan jebakan umum

  • Trying to convert temperature by multiplication only.
  • Using Celsius in formulas that require Kelvin.
  • Writing Kelvin with a degree symbol; correct form is 273 K, not 273 °K.
  • Confusing a temperature value with a temperature difference. A change of 10°C equals a change of 18°F.
  • Rounding fever readings too loosely when medical decisions depend on thresholds.
Tips pro

Manfaatkan alat ini lebih jauh

  • Quick Celsius to Fahrenheit estimate: double Celsius and add 30. Good for weather, not science.
  • For exact work, use °F = °C × 1.8 + 32.
  • For gas laws and thermodynamics, always convert to Kelvin first.
  • Remember key points: 0°C = 32°F, 37°C = 98.6°F, 100°C = 212°F.
  • Pair with heat index, wind chill and dew point calculators when temperature affects comfort.
FAQ

Pertanyaan tentang Temperature Converter

How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?

Multiply by 9/5 then add 32. For example 30 °C × 9/5 = 54, plus 32 = 86 °F. Body temperature 37 °C = 98.6 °F.

How do I convert Fahrenheit to Celsius?

Subtract 32, then multiply by 5/9. For example (100 − 32) × 5/9 = 37.78 °C. So 100 °F is roughly 37.8 °C.

What is absolute zero in Celsius and Fahrenheit?

Absolute zero is 0 K - the lowest temperature physically possible. It's −273.15 °C or −459.67 °F. No object can be cooled below this point.

Is Kelvin written with a degree symbol?

No. Kelvin uses no degree symbol - write it as 273 K, not 273 °K. This was changed by SI in 1967. Celsius, Fahrenheit and Rankine still use the degree symbol.

When is Rankine used?

Rankine (°R) is rare. It is mostly used in some US engineering disciplines (notably thermodynamics and aerospace) where engineers want absolute-zero referencing while keeping Fahrenheit-sized degrees.

Why doesn't simple multiplication work for temperature?

Because each scale has a different zero. To convert −5 °C you can't just multiply by a factor - you must first shift to a common zero (Kelvin), scale the degree size, then shift to the new zero. This converter does all three steps automatically.

Convert with confidence

Conversion math is exact for unit families that share a base - every length unit can be expressed in metres, every weight in kilograms, every temperature in kelvin. The only real decisions are precision (how many decimals to display) and rounding (banker's rounding vs round-half-up). This converter exposes both. For currencies and crypto we pull live rates because they change every minute; for everything else the math works offline.

Indian land units (gaj, ground, bigha, acre, hectare) are wired into the area converter alongside global ones - useful for property listings and government records. The MB-to-GB converter handles the decimal-vs-binary distinction (1 GB = 1,000 MB in storage marketing, but operating systems display 1 GiB = 1,024 MiB) so you stop wondering why your '2 TB drive' shows up as 1.81 TB in Windows.
