Standard 5-day workweek: 9am-6pm with 1-hour break, Mon-Fri
Daily: 9 - 1 = 8 hours. Weekly: 5 × 8 = 40 hours. No overtime. At ₹500/hour: ₹20,000 gross weekly = ₹86,667/month (× 4.33 weeks).

Time-card or timesheet tracking is essential for hourly workers, freelancers, contract employees, shift-based staff and anyone whose pay depends on hours worked. In India, this matters for contract IT consultants, BPO and call-center workers, factory shift workers, retail and hospitality staff, and increasingly for hybrid/remote employees whose work hours need documenting. This calculator handles a full week of daily clock-in / clock-out entries with break deductions, gives per-day and weekly totals, and computes overtime using either US (40 hours) or Indian (48 hours) conventions.
Indian labour law context: The Factories Act 1948 limits adult workers to 48 hours per week and 9 hours per day; overtime is paid at twice the ordinary rate. State Shops and Establishments Acts have their own variations but generally follow 48 hours/week. For IT/ITES workers under shop & establishment acts, the limits often hold but enforcement is laxer. For freelance and gig workers, hourly rates and overtime are governed by contract, not statute. Use this tool to track gross hours and pay; for net (in-hand) salary after PF, ESI, professional tax and TDS, see the In-Hand Salary Calculator on this site.
For each day, enter start time, end time and break minutes.
Optionally enter your hourly rate to get pay.
See per-day totals and weekly summary.
Each day is computed independently using the standard hours formula (end − start − break). Weekly total is summed across days. Overtime is anything above 40 hours by default (US standard); some Indian contracts use 48 hours.
Daily hours = (End − Start − Break) per day Weekly = Σ daily Overtime = max(0, Weekly − threshold)
Per-day calculation: hours worked = (end time − start time − unpaid break time). The calculator accepts times in 24-hour format or AM/PM, handles shifts that cross midnight (e.g., 22:00 to 06:00 = 8 hours), and supports break durations in minutes. Decimal hours are shown to 2 places for accuracy. Weekly total is the simple sum across all 7 days.
Overtime computation: regular hours = min(weekly total, threshold). Overtime hours = max(0, weekly total − threshold). Default threshold is 40 hours (US FLSA standard); Indian users should change to 48 (Factories Act). Some Indian contracts use 45 (a common IT industry norm) - adjust as per your contract. Overtime is typically paid at 1.5× to 2× regular rate; the Factories Act mandates 2× for India.
Pay calculation: regular pay = regular hours × hourly rate. Overtime pay = overtime hours × hourly rate × overtime multiplier. Total weekly gross pay = regular + overtime. This is gross - tax and other deductions (PF, ESI, PT, TDS) reduce it to net pay. For shift differentials (night shift bonus), allowances, and other compensation components, add them separately to this total.
Daily: 9 - 1 = 8 hours. Weekly: 5 × 8 = 40 hours. No overtime. At ₹500/hour: ₹20,000 gross weekly = ₹86,667/month (× 4.33 weeks).
Mon-Fri: 9 hrs each (8 + 1 OT, with 1-hr break) = 45 hrs. Saturday: 6 hrs. Weekly: 51 hrs. Under 48-hr Indian rule: 48 regular + 3 OT. At ₹400/hr with 2× OT: 48 × 400 + 3 × 800 = ₹21,600 gross.
Daily: 9 - 1 (break) = 8 hours. Weekly: 40 hours. At ₹250/hr base + 30% night differential = ₹325/hr effective. Gross: ₹13,000/week ≈ ₹56,000/month.
40 hours is the US Fair Labor Standards Act default. Indian Shops and Establishments Acts vary by state but commonly use 48 hours.
Enter the longest single shift; sum others manually. Or split across two days. Most timesheets assume one block per day.

Date math, password generation, QR codes, IP subnets, base64 encoding, dew point, dice rolls, age calculations - none of these are 'big' problems individually, but they are the small frictions that interrupt your day. This tool runs entirely in your browser, has no popup, no chat widget and no tracking inside the calculation, so you can finish the task and move on.
Many tools in the Daily Utilities category complement each other - date difference + day counter + day-of-the-week, or password generator + QR code + base64 encoder. The related-tool grid links them together so you can move between adjacent problems in a click.
The Time Card Calculator is part of the Daily Utilities suite on Online Calculator Tools, alongside 6 related calculators. All tools share the same UI patterns, the same privacy-first rendering (nothing is sent to a server), and the same commitment to showing the formula and assumptions behind every result.
